Zoya Fall 2012 - Suri and FeiFei + Holiday 2012/13 Pre-Order

Zoya Suri Zoya FeiFei

A couple of weeks long time ago, I placed an order for two of my faves from Zoya's Fall 2012 collection.  I gave you a sneak peek here, but now I want to show them off in all their glory.

First up is Zoya Suri.

"Medium blue-toned purple with delicate red and blue shimmer and a smooth metallic finish."

Zoya Suri

First up is Zoya Suri. I LOVED IT, and I took a ton of pics to show you why. I picked out a couple that I thought were representative of the bunch. I'm warning you, she's pretty!

Next, I need to get Song, Elisa and Daul. Not to mention Zoya's Holiday 2012/2013 Ornate collection is now available for pre-order.  They promise the collection will adorn your nails in jewels.

Zoya Ornate Holiday 2012

Just like last year's fall collection, I'd like to have all of these. Storm especially is screaming, "Buy me, buy me!"

Until next time, stay polished!

Calling all magnetic polish lovers! China Glaze is back for a second round with Magnetix II, a new collection of magnetic nail lacquers.

China Glaze Magnetix II

  • Sparks Will Fly - Chic cobalt blue
  • Gold Fusion - Rich gold
  • Bond-Tastic - Soft rust

If you're not quite sure what to make of magnetic polish, have a closer look:

China Glaze Magnetix II

I have yet to give magnetic nail polish a try. I wonder if the wear is the same if you wear it as is, without using the magnet. Has anyone tried that?

Sorry, I don't have any swatches, but The PolishAholic does!

For more details, check out the company's full press release after the break.

NOTD: Zoya Megan

Zoya Megan

Zoya Megan comes from the Feel Collection, released last winter. The color is described as a full coverage, taupe gray cream. Given the description, I was surprised by the lilac tones, but its a really nice polish nonetheless. Here, I started with a coat of Zoya Anchor followed by two coats of the polish to achieve full coverage.

DEAL ALERT: OPI at Walmart

If you like OPI, you need to head to the salon at Walmart.  That's where I purchased the three OPI's pictured above for the price of one - $8.50 plus tax!  Yodel Me On My Cell is from the Fall 2010 Swiss Collection, Dulce de Leche is from the South American Collection for Summer 2002 (! wow, that's old) and My Private Jet is from the 2007 Night Brights Collection.  These are old polishes, yes, but they're new to me and think I got a great deal.

If you're not looking for older polishes, the salon has another deal going for current collections - buy one get one for half price.  I hope you all are able to find some great deals at your local stores!

Zoya's Marry J is a Diva

"Warm, light red-toned purple frost with strong gold, green and blue duochrome shimmer."

Way back when (ok, sometime around Christmas), Zoya kept us deal-hungry customers on our toes with their fun flash promos.  While there were many great deals, my favorite one involved FREE nail polish.  I got lucky at least once, and ordered Marry J (aka Marry) from the Divas Collection (not to be confused with their current Diva collection).

"Different every time you look at it, this shade lends a magical, playful look to nails."

Very pretty with a great, smooth formula.

Sneak Peek: Zoya Suri and FeiFei

Hey there! I just received my order for Suri and FeiFei from Zoya's Fall 2012 Designer, Diva & Gloss collection.  Can't wait to show you the rest of the pics!

Around the Blogs - Monday, August 13, 2012

Happy Monday!  Here are a few posts that caught my eye in the past week:
  • Kellie Gonzo takes a trip with China Glaze's On Safari Collection. KG
  • Vampy Varnish has some beautiful swatches of OPI's Germany Collection for Fall 2012. VV
  • Colour Coated had a jelly sandwich. CC
  • Glitter, She Wrote has one of the few swatches I've seen of Essie's Yogaga Collection. GSW
  • The Color Republic shares a Lovely Secret. CR
  • Haute Lacquer goes for a tribal look using Zoya and China Glaze. HL You should also check out a couple of her other tribal patterns, Accented With Tribal and Patterned Stripes.  If only I had a steady hand...
  • I haven't been on Nailside's page in a while, but here's a challenge post she did a few weeks ago using a cloud pattern.  I love her patterns.  Pretty skilled lady! NS
I'll catch up with you later!   I have plenty to share :)

Sinful Colors - Luminary

Here'a quick look at my second Sinful Colors polish - Luminary:

Sinful Colors Luminary
As you can see, it's a pretty peachy-orange color with shimmer throughout.  I think the color is OK, but I'm not a fan of the formula on theses polishes.

Sinful Colors Luminary

Sinful Colors Luminary

Sinful Colors Luminary
It got kind of bumpy and was a little on the goopy side.  You can see where I dented it on the pinky nail after I thought it should've been dry.

My perfect polish this is not.

OPI's Koala Bear-y is Bear-y Nice!

A few weeks ago, after spending more time than I'd like to admit deciding on the ONE OPI I'd buy, I ended up with Koala Bear-y.  It comes from OPI's 2007 Australia collection.  It's very pretty in the bottle, but I was concerned about how it would look on me.  Since I refuse to swatch polish before I buy (I hate when I see people do that!), I decided to take my chances and was very glad I did.

See for yourself:

J's Stash: China Glaze Heart of Africa

Hey there! Here's an oldie but goodie -- China Glaze's Heart of Africa.  Oh, how I love (and have unfortunately neglected) this color.  It's a beautiful shade of burgundy with shimmer.

For this manicure, I used Zoya Anchor as a base followed by two coats of HoA.

Look at how rich this color is!

The formula is very smooth - I wish more were like it.

Love. It.

Essie Mirror Metallics

A couple of weeks ago I told you about my accidental encounter with a new display for Essie's Mirror Metallics during my search for Stroke of Brilliance.  This week I want to show you two that purchased from the collection - Blue Rhapsody and Good As Gold.

Blue Rhapsody

Polish notes:

Color description: "a jazzy blue metallic"
Base coat: Zoya Get Even
Coats of polish used: 2
Comments about application:
Metallics are kind of funny to work with.  They can easily become streaky, and I don't think these play well with Zoya's Get Even.  I experienced some "pull" on the polish after allowing a sufficient amount of time for the first coat to dry, and had to re-do the nails to avoid unwanted clumping in my finish.
Top coat:
CND Shiney

Essie Blue Rhapsody

I really liked Blue Rhapsody.  It kind of made me feel like my nails were wrapped in foil, only without the skin crawling effect.

This will make a great color for pedicures!

Good As Gold

Color description: "a guaranteed gold metallic"
Base coat: Zoya Get Even
Coats of polish used: 2
Comments about application:
same as the notes for Blue Rhapsody
Top coat:
CND Shiney
Essie Good As Gold

If Essie had named this "Oscar," I wouldn't have thought twice.  Wearing Good As Gold was like wearing a lacquer version of the coveted statue.  Pretty.

FingerPaints Summer in the City - Sexy Sundress

Hey there!  Just wanted to drop in and show off Sexy Sundress from the FingerPaints Summer in the City Collection.  I don't typically wear this shade of green, but sometimes typical can be boring!  Sexy Sundress is not.

The formula was okay for the most part.  I went with my usual two coats and found that was sufficient.

Here's an older picture, pre-clean up:

Colors from this collection retail for about $3.29 at www.sallybeauty.com, and shouldn't cost much more in stores.
