Get Frosted - Zoya Rory

Zoya Rory

*singing* "Frosty the snowman, was a jolly happy soul..."

Wrong time of year, I know, but each time I wear Zoya Rory, I can't help but sing it!  Rory is part of the "Surf" side of Zoya's Beach & Surf collection for summer 2012.  It is a "medium mauve pink with lilac tones, gold and silver reflective metallic shimmer accents, and a foil-like finish."  This is a different kind of polish for me because of the foil-like finish.  Until I purchased this and Zuza, I don't think I had anything like it in my collection.  It had me feeling all dainty and stuff. *pouts*  I'm not dainty, like at all, but funny how a little color on your nails can make you feel like it.

Zoya Rory

I used two coats here with no base coat and no top coat. BE SMARTER THAN ME.  Use a good base coat.  Rory stains like grape juice on white carpet.  My nails had a pink tint to them for several days after I removed it.

I have two more polishes from the Beach & Surf collection - Zuza and Wednesday.  I had them all swatched and ready to go, but something was off about the color in all of my photos.  I'm going to have to re-swatch them for you.  Until then,

Stay polished!!

Cult Nails Mini-Haul Part I: Cruisin' Nude

A few weeks ago, Cult Nails held the second part of its $5 sale. I ordered Cruisin' Nude, Iconic and Let Me Fly.  I was really excited to try Cruisin' Nude because it's not your average nude.  Look closely and you'll see a beautiful pink shimmer running through it.  I was just nervous about how it would look on my skin tone.  In the photos I'd seen, it appeared to be the exact type of color that would give me mannequin hands.  I like a good neutral color, but I'm not a fan of mannequin hands.  Now that I have it and have swatched it, take a look and let me know what you think.

Polish notes:

Base coat: Zoya Get Even Ridge Filler
Coats of polish used: 2
Comments about application: Flawless, I love these formulas!
Top coat: None

With this latest purchase, my Cult Nails collection now numbers at five polishes.  So far, every formula has been great, the colors unique and the customer service has been great.  I'm definitely looking forward to adding many more to my collection in the coming years.

Zoya GMA Promo Swatches!! (WARNING: pic heavy!)

I am *ahem* a little late posting this, but I finally did! Please forgive me :(

TOBEY

"Very bright nearly-neon fuchsia-based candy pink creme."

YUMMY

"Bright, cheerful light robin's egg blue in a milky creme finish. A sweet sky-blue that pops on both deep and pale skin tones."  Agreed.

Formula was thick and creamy.  Easy to apply.

LOLA

"Ultra-bright warm fuchsia-pink base with strong blue-violet duochrome shimmer. Edgy, bright and eye-catching but still fresh and girly."

There's a slight blue shimmer

I really liked this color, but I wasn't sure it was a match for my skin tone.  What do you think?

FYI: There's slight VNL after two coats.  Usually I mind this, but it was subtle.

So, there you have it.  Tobey, Yummy and Lola.  Three welcome additions to my collection.  Hope you enjoyed this super long post.

Until next time,

Stay polished!

I'm Baaaaaack!

Hey Everyone!  I've missed you :)  Since I've been away for a couple of days I wanted to do a quick post to show you more of my little pretties.

Dim Sum Plum was my very first OPI polish.  Some sweet ladies at a dreamy resort & spa recommended it because they thought it would look great on my skin tone.  I wasn't convinced, but I said what the hey and went with it anyway.  So glad I did!  I searched up and down until I found the color at a local store because I just felt it needed to be with me.  Funny thing is I never wear it.  I just had to have it but never wear it.  There's no good reason.  I love the color, but the brush?....The brush can go away.  I do not like the flat, broad OPI brushes.  I've tried, but they make it hard for me to follow the curve at the base of my nail.  Anyone else have the problem?  Any tricks to get around it?

Take a look and let me know what you think.  These aren't the best pics, but you get the idea.
